  1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

The European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) is committed to ensuring that our digital platforms are accessible, inclusive, and usable for everyone. As an international organisation operating across Europe, we aim to align our digital services with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA and the principles of the EU Web Accessibility Directive and EN 301 549, where applicable.

Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we recognise that improvements are continually needed. We are committed to progressively enhancing the accessibility of our website and responding promptly to issues identified by users, automated scans, or internal reviews.

  1. Current Accessibility Status

Based on our most recent automated review (December 2025), epoa.eu is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA.
The scan identified several issues that may impact accessibility for some users. These include:

Areas Requiring Improvement

  • Non-text Content (WCAG 1.1.1): Some images may lack appropriate alternative text.
  • Information & Structure (WCAG 1.3.1): Certain pages may have inconsistent heading structure or missing semantic markup.
  • Contrast (WCAG 1.4.3): Some text and graphical elements may not meet minimum contrast thresholds.
  • Link Purpose (WCAG 2.4.4): Several links with the same destination currently use different descriptive text.
  • Headings & Labels (WCAG 2.4.6): Heading levels may be missing or out of sequence on some pages, affecting navigation for assistive technologies.
  • Consistent Identification (WCAG 3.2.4): Identical components may occasionally appear differently across the site.
  • Parsing (WCAG 4.1.1): Minor HTML code-structure issues may affect compatibility with screen readers.

These points do not represent the full scope of accessibility testing. Manual review and user testing with assistive technologies are also required for a full audit. However, these findings provide priority areas that EPOA is actively addressing.

  1. Actions We Are Taking

EPOA is committed to improving accessibility step by step. Current and planned actions include:

  • Reviewing and improving colour contrast across the site.
  • Adding or correcting alternative text on images and icons.
  • Ensuring consistent and logical heading hierarchy (H1–H6).
  • Standardising link descriptions for identical destinations.
  • Improving labels and interactive elements for screen-reader clarity.
  • Fixing minor parsing issues to ensure technical compatibility.
  • Conducting periodic automated scans and targeted manual reviews.
  • Integrating accessibility checks into our web content creation processes.

We will continue implementing improvements as part of our commitment to an inclusive digital environment.

  1. Known Limitations

While we are working toward greater compliance, some limitations may still exist, including:

  • Older content, legacy documents, and historical materials may not yet meet accessibility standards.
  • PDFs or documents from external partners may not always be accessible.
  • Embedded third-party content may have its own accessibility constraints.
  • Some pages may still contain inconsistent formatting or layout structures.

We are gradually addressing these issues as part of our ongoing improvement plan.
