Dresden is running to host EuroPride 2029

Saturday 6 June 2026

One bid has been confirmed as being in the running to host the 2029 edition of EuroPride, Europe’s most significant LGBTQIA+ event.

It would be the first time for Dresden to host EuroPride. The last time EuroPride was hosted in Germany was more than 20 years ago, in Hamburg in 2004.

Patrick Orth, President of the European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) which licenses EuroPride, welcomed the bid saying:

“We are delighted by Dresden’s bid to host EuroPride 2029. At a time when diversity, inclusion, and human rights are increasingly being challenged across Europe, Dresden’s willingness to take the lead sends a strong and vital message. I wish the team every success as they prepare their bid and look forward to learning more about their vision for EuroPride 2029.

At the same time, it is no coincidence that Dresden is the only bidding city for 2029. The majority of Pride organisations across Europe currently face significant challenges that make both long-term planning and the level of commitment required for a EuroPride bid increasingly difficult. At our Annual General Meeting in Magdeburg later this year we will work together with our members to get a better understanding of the barriers that may hold organisations back from submitting a bid. Furthermore, we aim to enhance transparency regarding the bidding process and provide information on the resources, capacities, and support structures necessary to successfully host a EuroPride.”

Ronald Zenker, Spokesperson of the Board, CSD Dresden e.V., said:

2029 marks two anniversaries that changed the world: 60 years since the Stonewall Riots and 40 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Both remind us that progress begins when people refuse to accept injustice, challenge division, and stand up for freedom and dignity.

Dresden is the fitting place to carry that legacy forward. Our vision for EuroPride 2029 is simple: Pride was never the wall. Pride is always the bridge. We want to bring people together across borders, communities, and generations.

From eastern Germany, in the heart of Europe, we want to send a clear message: diversity is strength and human rights are non-negotiable. Here in Dresden, we know that democracy is never finished. It must be defended, renewed, and lived every day.

EuroPride 2029 in Dresden would be a European statement of freedom, solidarity, and hope.”
