The European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) has today published the official bid from CSD Dresden e.V., which is bidding to host EuroPride in 2029. Rather than presenting its plans in a traditional bid book format, Dresden has created an interactive website where EPOA members and others can explore its bid. Built around the theme Turn Walls into Bridges, it sets out Dresden’s plans, vision and proposed legacy for EuroPride 2029.

Ronald Zenker (he/him), Spokesperson of the Board of CSD Dresden e.V. said:

“1969 stands for the courage of Stonewall. 1989 showed us that even the strongest walls can come down. And in 2029, we want to write the next chapter together in Dresden. With Turn Walls into Bridges, we want to create a EuroPride that brings people together – between East and West, between generations, cultures, and different experiences. A EuroPride that begins in Dresden, takes us through Saxony and connects Europe. Because Europe needs not more walls, but people who are willing to build bridges. At a time when queer people and our rights are under pressure, we want to create visibility, foster a sense of community and bring people closer together.

EuroPride 2029 must be more than an extraordinary festival. It must be an invitation to Europe: to meet, to listen, to celebrate and to build bridges together. Bridges that connect people and remain long after 2029.”

Patrick Orth (he/him), President of EPOA which licenses EuroPride, welcomed the bid saying:

“I am very happy to see Dresden putting forward its bid to host EuroPride 2029. A lot of work has already gone into preparing the bid book, and I want to thank the entire team for their commitment and effort. I believe they have presented a strong and solid bid, and I wish them every success in convincing our members when they make the final decision at our AGM on 10 October in Magdeburg.”

The bid will be presented at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday 10 October. The result of the ballot is expected later that day, after delegates from more than 200 member organisations voted to decide the EuroPride 2029 host.

  2. The European Pride Organisers Association (EPOA) advocates for and represents the Pride movement in Europe. It has more than 200 member Pride organisations in more than 40 countries. 
  3. EuroPride is hosted every year by a member organisation of the Association. The first was in London in 1992. EuroPride 2026 coincided with WorldPride in Amsterdam (NL), in 2027 EuroPride will be held in Torino (IT) and EuroPride 2028 will be held in West of Ireland (IE).   4. The bid will be presented at EPOA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 10 October. Results will be announced later the same day and live-streamed at www.facebook.com/europride. The AGM takes place in Magdeburg, Germany.
